Pietro del Re was born in Rome in 1960. He writes for the Italian newspaper La Repubblica in the section about World News. Over the last fifteen years he has been fighting in several wars (Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Georgia, Libia, Siria) and supporting people during catastrophes (tsunami in Banda Aceh, earthquake in Japan).
He got a degree at the Université of Jssieu in Paris in 1982: since then, natural sciences and animals have become his passions.
For the publishing house Le Lettere he published Fratello orso, sorella aquila - Storie di animali e di chi li protegge (2002) and Giallo Umbro, an "ethological" thriller where a professor of zoology plays the role of a detective (2012).
